Like slowing down 24p footage by 50%, you can choose to either have blended frames in between or non which will result in a 12 fps slow stuttery look.
The blended interpolated and stuff is if you don't really care for frame blending. With this, your 60p footage (given you fast imported it in a 60p project first) will play back smoothly without frame blending but with crisp progressive images. If you have 60p footage that you've brought into a bin on a 24p timeline, drop it on the timeline, place curser over the clip, select the motion effect editor, click 'promote' at the top, click the running man, change speed to 100% (avid will see 60p as 250% in a 24p timeline), type to both fields, source as progressive, output as progressive. If you have, for example, footage in 30p, and you want to slow it down without frame blending, you slow it down 50% and choose fluidmotion, it'll morph it and look like it was shot in 60fps. I did this when I had a 1080i handycam, made my stuff look like it was shot on a reasonable 24p camera.įluid motion is also if you want to slow down footage past it's framerate. At this point, anything in fluidmotion you have to render. You apply the timewarp effect, don't adjust the speed, select type to Fluidmotion, sours is interlaced, output is film with 2-3 pulldown. It morphs the 60i frames into 24p frames. (this feature only works with interlaced media) If you were given 1080 60i (applies to any frame size) footage, you can turn it into a 'film' look which is 24p. For slowing down footage slower than the provided framerates, you DON'T have to use fluidmotion (everything else is in realtime, fluidmotion is the one you have to render), this actually morphes frames that don't exsist by using previous and next frames to thus create a new frame.
